The Claim
Body care borrows the face's vocabulary and drops its discipline. Creams promise shape. Oils promise renewal. Lotions promise correction.
The Evidence
What the labels and listings actually say: the format (cream, oil, gel, lotion), the named acids or vitamins, and, where present, the SPF and its active ingredients from the Drug Facts. Cosmetics may claim effects on how skin looks and feels; they may not claim to change the body's structure or function. (FDA: Is it a cosmetic, a drug, or both?) Sunscreen claims follow the US labeling rule. (21 CFR 201.327)
